Dolan heads back to Cannes!

No, he doesn't have another glorious film in contention, but this time he's on the jury!  I know, Coens yada yada Jury Presidents yada yada but THIS is what has me excited!  You all know what kind of a gushing fan I am of this man, and so all Dolan news is good news, but this is great news.  The rest of the panel (which includes Jake Gyllenhaal, Guillermo del Toro and Sienna Miller) is pretty great and diverse as well, but we all know who the most opinionated face on that jury is going to be.  If only I could be a fly on that table.

  1. .....I have no idea who this person is. I just imdb-ed him, though. Seeing how much you adore him makes me think I should give his films a shot...

    1. I paid tribute to his work for an entire week back in February. The link in the post is to my Open Letter to him. At 26, he's directed 5 diverse films, two of which are utter masterpieces, he's won the Jury Prize at Cannes for his last film, Mommy (which is my favorite film of all time), and not only that, but he writes, produces, edits AND costumes all of his films. He's going to be legend!

  2. Xavier Dolan, Guillermo del Toro, and the Coen Brothers in the same jury. I would do anything to be in that jury and record whatever conversations they would have about film. Plus, they're joined by Jake Gyllenhaal, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Sienna Miller, and Rossy de Palma. I think de Palma is the right actress to be in a Dolan film. She's got that weird look that has managed to work for her since she is one of Almodovar's core of regular actresses.

    1. I'd love to see Dolan work with de Palma! Hell, I'd love to see him work with most great actresses. I'm still crossing my fingers for a Dolan/Cotillard collaboration.

    1. Yeah, it's a pretty eclectic group. I wish they video-recorded the discussions!
