Dear Russell Crowe...

You may be old, fat and angry.  You may not have had an Oscar nomination in over ten years.  You may be considered washed up.  You may have legions of detractors.  But, you know what; I still love you.  So, today, on your 51st birthday, I want you to know that I still think you're a hot piece of ass and I would have nominated you plenty of times since 2001 and I think you're just as talented and relevant and engrossing as you were in your 'prime' and I think all those detractors are just jealous haters who can suck it.  I have called you God.  I have publicly declared that I worship the ground you act on.  I am here to say that I am still by your side and your side is where I will stay.  I'll be seeing you at the movies...and in my dreams.

    1. Last I heard, they were still separated...and he's apposed to dating again...unless they reconcile, which I hope they do.

    1. I like this rumor, because the thought of them having dirty, kinky sex fills me with such joy...but he's stated a few times that he's not seeing and doesn't plan on seeing anyone.

But the things we do in the dark...

  4. I'm a fan of his as well, not quite so ardent but an admirer. The first thing I saw him in was The Sum of Us, both he and Jack Thompson are brilliant in it, when it opened in the States and a then in fast succession The Quick & the Dead, Rough Magic and Virtuosity all in the same year. Then he sort of disappeared for a bit until L.A. Confidential, The Insider and Gladiator.

I haven't loved everything he's done since, the last film of his I really loved was 3:10 to Yuma, but his work is almost always superior. I've also gone back before The Sum of Us to his really early work which is variable too but I loved Proof. I think he'll last for the long haul since his career doesn't rely on his looks he'll make a fine character actor when his career reaches that point.

    1. I still haven't seen The Sum of Us, which is a shame because I hear such wonderful things about it. I loved him in Proof, but Romper Stomper was, for me, where his career proved itself...such a riveting and terrifying performance.

And I agree with you...he'll last...for his talent and range has been proven and continues to show itself. He's wasted it, at times, in the wrong role, but he's continually one of, if not the very best aspect of everything he's in.

  5. Haha, love this! You know I'm a big fan as well. 3/8 at the CinSpecs. Not bad for one of this generation's finest actors. :)

  7. Great actor!! He is one of the best who does what he likes, doesn't care what others think and does not fall into the Hollywood crap. My hubby would agree with you except for "Hot piece of ass"-I will but not my hubby. Perfect tribute

    1. LOL, I like what I like :-D

And his diversity of projects is really apparent in the fact that, in just the past few years, he's been in a kung-fu flick, a musical, a biblical epic, a superhero film and a political drama, not to mention directing his own war epic and filming a familial drama about illness and parental bonds.

      He's everything!

  10. I love Crowe! I think he's unconventionally attractive and one darn talented actor. I was crushing madly on him after Gladiator, even went back and watched all his older Aussie flicks like Heaven Burning ;-)

    1. His early years in Australian cinema are treasures! Proof, Romper Stomper, his nude scene in Hammers Over the Anvil! LOL...for years and years I talked about buying property with a pond and some horses just so I could ride them naked into the water.

I still dream of doing that :-P

    2. I still need to see Hammers Over the Anvil! But you can see his bum in Virtuosity too :) Hey you could totally still realize your dream, I mean you're still young!

Anyway, don't be a stranger on FC ;)

    3. Hammers is actually a really good movie too, so you should check it out...I bet you'd really like it (and the barnyard sex scene is pretty hot).

And I'll buzz on over...I hope I haven't been neglecting your blog! I've been real swamped with A Fistful of Moments, but I thought I was keeping up with everyone.

Have you seen his new movie the Water Diviner?? Or one of his earlier ones, Romper Stomper?

  12. I like Russell Crowe. He is a good actor.
I'm not a fan of Gladiator (or A Good Year, Body of Lies and Robin Hood), but I would gave to him an Oscar for American Gangster. And I love L.A. Confidential, The Insider, A Beautiful Mind, Master and Commander and Cinderella Man; and I really like The Quick and the Dead, 3:10 to Yuma, State of Play, The Man with the Iron Fists, Man of Steel, Noah. I still need to watch The Water Diviner.
