    I like the list of Breakthrough Directors, esp. Lake Bell for In a World..., Jeff Nichols for Mud and Jordan Vogt-Roberts for The Kings of Summer. Those are all great films. We need more female directors, so it's nice to see Bell being singled out!

    1. I agree on female directors. Some of the best films to come out of the past decade have been from females. This year alone has brought us the likes of 'Stories We Tell' and 'The Bling Ring', both currently in my top five. Women are sorely underrated in this industry.

  2. I wonder if all of these debut mentions for Fruitvale Station and In a World... could lead to surprise nod at the Oscars, like Margin Call.

    1. I had a lot of faith in Fruitvale, as you know, but it took a beating this weekend, so I'm waning on my faith. Still, I think that it could wind up getting a surprise mention or even still wind up getting five or six noms...it really all depends on how the cookie crumbles.
