Belated July Oscar Predictions...

I'm still firmly on the 'Gravity' bandwagon!
You mean it’s not July anymore!!!  I meant to post these yesterday and time really got away from me.  So, this month has opened our eyes to a lot of new trailers that has helped us put a few films in perspective.  We’ve seen ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ jump in the ranks, we’ve seen the new ‘Mandela’ trailer prove itself a tad generic and we’ve seen ‘The Secret Life of Walter Mitty’ come out and look, well, VERY interesting.  We’ve also learned that ‘Foxcatcher’ is on the brink of being pushed to 2014, and we’ve heard that ‘Labor Day’ is making the festival rounds.  We also just got that wicked cool trailer for ‘American Hustle’, which looks like it is going to make a giant splash.  So, it’s time to make some alterations.  I’m losing faith in ‘The Counselor’, maintaining faith in ‘Gravity’ and gaining faith in ‘Saving Mr. Banks’.  We’ll see how August pans out.

Things could still change!

  1. It's so depressing that Oscar contenders always release so late... I mean, I haven't seen any of these movies yet! And I probably won't until just before or after the show in February.
By the way, I still hope James Franco gets a Best Supporting Actor nom for Spring Breakers.

    1. I'll be seeing Spring Breakers hopefully over the weekend, and I've been wondering if it could turn into one of those critic's darlings that winds up snagging a surprise nom in a light field. Supporting Actor is WIDE open right now.

  2. All is Lost is an interesting prediction for multiple noms. I'm considering going that way as well. No faith in 12 Years a Slave? I wonder... Based on the trailers, it looks like American Hustle will be a bigger contender than it. Still loving the Blue is the Warmest Color faith. :)

    1. These are so lazy and thrown together. I'm actually planning on doing my August predictions early because I'm not entirely happy with these. LOL. But I have little faith in 12 Years a Slave outside of Fassbender, which I'm not all that confident in to begin with. The trailer did look baity, but early word on the test screenings was that this was still VERY MUCH a McQueen film and not very AMPAS friendly, so I'm skeptical.

American Hustle looks like it is going to be amazing!
