A James Bond kind of day…

So, today is the 50th Anniversary of the James Bond series.  Can you believe it?  It actually feels longer, since James Bond is such a part of human culture at this point.  What’s funny is that I’ve never really been a huge fan of Bond or his films.  I know that sounds sacrilegious or something like that, and I have friends who practically worship him and own ALL OF HIS MOVIES.  Can I say this honestly here without being chastised, and I’m sure I should be?  I’ve only seen six Bond films.  Holy shit, right!  I’ve seen ‘From Russia With Love’, ‘Casino Royale’ (’67), ‘The World is Not Enough’, ‘Die Another Day’, ‘Casino Royale (’06) and ‘Quantum of Solace’.  That’s embarrassing isn’t it?  I have READ the Ian Fleming novel for ‘Casino Royale’ though, so that counts for something, right?  Well, in honor of this legendary day, what are your plans?  Are you embracing Bond today?  What is your favorite Bond movie?  Who is your favorite Bond?  Have you read any of the novels?  I, at one time, had planned on reading them all, in order…but my disappointment with ‘Casino Royale’ dampened their appeal and I haven’t touched one since.  I really should, for the novelty of it all.

  1. WHAT?! Lol. That's ok. I haven't read any of Fleming's novels.

I feel bad for not having seen all of them. Of course, I've probably seen at least 75% of the films.

Seriously, you need to see Dr. No and Goldfinger though. ;)

    1. I know, right! I'm so behind. I'm sure I'll see most if not all of them as I finish up personal awards for certian years. That is the great thing about having personal awards; it pushes you to see a lot of movies!

    2. That's why I don't make pictures of mine. That way, I can edit my picks easily. :)

  2. Well, I don't make pictures until I've seen almost all films of note for that year. I have a quantity requirement to finalize each year of 50 films; 100 for films post 2000. When I put it down in image form, it's pretty concrete.

    1. That's a good practice. I don't have the patience for that. Of course, I haven't made full ballots for any year before 2000.
